Ever wonder what your pets are up to while you’re not home?! I’ve always been pretty sure that Bob sleeps on the couch all day, but it gives me a major piece of mind to be able to keep a closer eye on him with Petcube Play. This nifty little pet-parent-gadget allows you to see, talk, and play with your pet with your smart phone no matter where you are.
So what sets the Petcube Play apart from other pet cameras on the market? First of all, its chic appearance will fit into just about any home decor. It is compact (3in x 3in x 3in) and sleek, available in Matte Silver, Rose Gold, and Carbon Black. I really appreciate that there aren’t paw prints or patterns on the device – it looks great sitting on my television stand.
Petcube Play has a super impressive list of specs:
- 2-way audio to talk to and hear your pets
- Sound and motion alerts notify you of major events at home
- Streams in 1080p HD video with 138° wide angle view
- Night vision to view in low light and no light conditions
- iOS and Android compatible (iOS 8+ and Android 4.3+)
- Play with your pet using the built-in laser toy (certified safe for pets and humans)
- 3x digital zoom to see your pets up close
- Video cloud recording service with Petcube Care
So what does this all mean?! Basically, from the Petcube app on my phone (which makes the entire set-up and installation process a breeze), I can access the HD camera to see what’s going on in my home while I’m away. I have my Petcube Play set up near the couch, which is Bob’s favorite spot. If I chose to, I can activate the two-way audio to talk to him or even activate the safe laser (surprise surprise – Bob is not impressed ha!). I can even take photos and videos of what he’s up to! I can also chose to share my video feed with friends and family so they can check in on him as well.
It’s fun and brings a smile to my face – not to mention, a piece of mind! When we first adopted Bob, this would have been super helpful in learning his behaviors and gauging his separation anxieties. If you have a dog or cat who tends to get into trouble when left alone, the Petcube Play could be a lifesaver.
While Petcube Play on its own is a handy device that pet parents are sure to find many uses for, when it is paired with Petcube Care, it becomes something really special. Petcube Care is a video cloud recording service that will record any action in front of your Petcube and store it on your timeline, which is available anytime on your phone (you can set up notifications for this as well). Sound and motion trigger recording, so you’ll know if your pet is doing something cute, something naughty, or even if there is a disturbance of some kind in your home.
Petcube Care costs as low as $10/month, and in certain situations, I can definitely see why this service would be helpful! Now that Bob is more settled into our family, the timeline of videos are fun for me to see – he basically moves from two different spots on the couch and then goes up the steps to bed throughout the day – but when he was first adjusting, this would have been a godsend to track his behaviors while we were away from him.
Of course, I love working with brands that are doing good things for animals. Petcube for Shelters utilizes the Petcube App to help increase adoptions. You can log on to the Petcube App, play and interact with shelter dogs and cats, and contact their rescue group for adoption information. Learn more about this program [here].
