When I first saw the promotional images for the OPI California Dreaming Collection for Summer 2017, I was left a little underwhelmed. But I should never doubt my tried-and-true fav – once I got this collection in my hands I became obsessed with all of the summery, warm shades. This is a 12-piece set, which features ten gorgeous OPI cremes and two metallic shades that will complement sun-kissed skin. While the cremes are all nudes, pinks, corals, oranges, and reds (no cool tones here!), there is enough variety that I think there’s something for everyone. Let’s take a look at the first nail art manicure I created with a handful of the shades from this collection!
I decided to create a skittle/ombre manicure with five of the shades from California Dreaming. From pinky to thumb: OPI Excuse Me, Big Sur!, OPI Malibu Pier Pressure, OPI Time For A Napa, OPI GPS I Love You, and OPI This Is Not Whine Country. All of these polishes were super buttery and creamy – perfect in two coats. To tie everything together, I free-handed a little simple graphic detail on each nail in OPI Sweet Carmel Sunday. I sealed everything in with Dr. Dana 9-Free Quick Dry Top Coat (have I raved about this top coat enough yet?!?!).
I absolutely love how this turned out. The metallic stripe ties each nail together – and even after wearing this for nearly a week, my manicure is super shiny and nearly chip free! I’m happy to report that Dr. Dana 9-Free Quick Try Top Coat plays very nicely with OPI! I still have six OPI California Dreaming shades to show you, so I’ll be creating more summery nail art in the weeks to come!
