Want your manicures to last longer before chipping? Looking for a product that doesn’t add a ton of steps or time to your nail care routine? 2X Super Chip Resistance is an affordable product with an impressive backstory that just may be perfect for you!
2X was created by Norman Polston, PhD, the inventor of the water-based nail polish that went on to become Piggy Paint, which is a non-toxic nail lacquer marketed for children. He also worked on the team at DuPont that developed water-based house paint in the 1980’s – so Dr. Polston has had a long career developing successful products. 2X is his newest creation, which promises to double the life of most nail polishes.
2X is simple to use. Apply one coat to the bare nail before base coat and a second coat after your top coat. It is formulated to be fast-drying so it does not add a lot of extra time to your process. It is also easy to remove, so it doesn’t add time to your removal process either (like a soak-off gel product would). Plus, 2X is lavender-infused!
After reading through the MSDS and talking to my PR contact, I’m pretty sure that 2X would be safe to use during pregnancy, but I have decided to err on the side of caution with my nail and beauty products for the next eight or nine months. Therefore, I have not had a chance to test this product personally, but I still wanted to share it with you!
I have used many nail prep products in the past (CND ScrubFresh, OPI BondAid, KBShimmer pH Nail Prep, etc) and I’ve had friends and clients that see a noticeable increase in wear with them (especially those with “oily” nails that just can’t keep anything on their nails). However, I’ve never used a product that is also applied over the top coat – that really intrigues me! 2X is available on their website for $5.99 (and it looks like it’s in an updated packaging – I think I got a test bottle for review!), so I think it’s worth a try if you’re looking to extend the life of your manicure!
