Another day, another fall collection – and I am so excited about this one! I feel like after years of feeling sort of blah about Zoya’s releases, they have finally put out a collection that lives up to my expectations! It is old school Zoya with six gorgeous cremes, three holos, and three classic glass flecks. I am in love! I always loved Zoya’s “metallic” polishes because they were so complex with glass flecks throughout – not just frosty metallics. This is something we haven’t seen from them in a long time, but they make a triumphant return in the twelve-piece Zoya Urban Grunge Collection for Fall 2016!
All swatches in this post were done with CND Stickey Base Coat and KBShimmer Clearly On Top top coat.
One Coat Cremes
Like usual, Zoya has split this collection into two six-piece sets. First up, we have the cremes. You may remember that Zoya described the cremes from the Sunset Collection as “one coat cremes” and I was really disappointed in that – but this time, that description makes sense! Each of these polishes, with the exception of Courtney, could be a one coater with careful application. They are thick-in-a-good-way, ultra smooth and dry quickly. With a full brush and gentle hand, these glide over the nail, leaving behind creamy color! Impressive.
For my swatches, I still did two coats to guarantee that there were no streaks or bald spots, but if I was in a hurry, one coat would have been fine!
Zoya Mallory is a gorgeous, bold, blue creme. I adore this! This is two coats for the sake of the swatch, but you could definitely get away with one careful coat. GORGEOUS!
Zoya Noah is the perfect fall nude. Beautiful and creamy. Again, I’ve done two coats to ensure a beautiful swatch, but you could definitely get away with one.
Zoya Tara is a surprise favorite for me. I don’t usually get excited over conservative, dark purples like this, but I adore this one. It is striking on the nail. Same story – this is two coats, but you could definitely get away with one.
Zoya Wyatt is a gorgeous, bold green. Seriously – I love this too! I can’t wait to play with this shade in some floral nail art. Same fabulous formula (two coats, but definitely a one coater with careful application).
Zoya August is a gray creme. This isn’t super unique or exciting, but I love gray for fall, so I’m happy it’s in this collection. Beautiful and great formula. Two coats – but one coat would be fine.
Zoya Courtney is a deep, red jelly. It builds up nicely in two coats and has a delicious squishy finish. Gorgeous – and perfect for fall!
As if I wasn’t excited enough over the first half of the collection – now we have the six metallic holos! Three of these polishes are holographic, and three of them are CLASSIC Zoya metallics – unique, complex, and so much more than a frosty metallic polish. I am so happy to see this formulation from Zoya again – so so gorgeous!
First up is Zoya Alicia, which is a silver linear holo with a golden flash. The holo has a very soft, almost pastel feel to it – it’s outstanding and unique! Alicia has created a lot of buzz on social media, and I can definitely see why. I used three coats to cover my visible nail line, but two coats gave a very dreamy, soft look.
Zoya Ash is a gorgeous pinkish-red glass fleck metallic! I LOVE IT! I’m wearing this as I type this post and it is just gorgeous. Two easy, smooth coats – but honestly you could get away with one.
Zoya Britta is another gorgeous glass fleck. The blue-toned berry base is packed with purple, fuchsia and golden flecks. LOVE LOVE LOVE! This is two smooth coats, but again, you could get away with one!
Zoya Finley is a purple scattered holographic in the style of the classics, Zoya Storm or Zoya Dream. This is just lovely, and the coarse holo really comes to life in the sun. This is two easy coats.
Zoya Merida is Finley’s green sister. Gorgeous – perfect for fall or the holidays! The holographic sparkle is outstanding. Two easy coats.
Finally, Zoya Troy is a unique glass fleck polish. It’s pewter-y base is packed with black and gold flecks. In some lights, I feel like I see some brown…in some, lavender. Very unique and classically Zoya! This is two coats.
So – yay! I think long-time Zoya fans and newcomers alike will love this collection! It is bold, beautiful, and high-quality. Perfect for fall, but honestly, a lot of these shades could be year-round go-to’s! If you can’t tell, I am super pleased – this is my favorite Zoya collection in years!
