I have short, stubby eyelashes. It’s been something that I’ve always dealt with – even a good mascara doesn’t give me the long lashes I crave (and we all know I’m too low maintenance to do falsies or extensions regularly), so I was eager to try a product that claims to enhance eyelashes naturally! Wink Eyelash & Eyebrown Enhancer is a vegan, cruelty-free oil blend in a brush applicator. Of those tested, 100% saw fuller looking lashes, 80% saw longer looking lashes, and 0% had irritation problems.
Wink contains quite a blend of oils, each providing essential fatty acids necessary for full hair growth: castor seed oil, dhatelo seed oil, kukui seed oil, raspberry seed oil, argan oil, jojoba oil, pomegranate seed oil, and sunflower seed oil. You can read all about these oils and what they do [here]. Amalie Beauty, the company that created Wink, breaks down the science on their website – which the nerd in me loves!
Research shows that it all starts with essential fatty acids. Essential fatty acids have been found to increase prostaglandin/prostaglanoid production in individuals with a deficiency (Medical Hypotheses, 1980). Prostaglandins stimulate eyelashes to enter and prolong the growth (anagen) stage.
This means, if you supplement your eyelash and eyebrow follicles with essential fatty acids, you may be stimulating prostaglanoid production naturally, which would result in fuller, longer lashes as well as fuller brows.
I have been using Wink for about six weeks, and I can see a noticeable difference in my eyelashes, especially when I wear mascara. My lashes definitely look longer. According to the Wink website, you’ll see a difference in two weeks, but you’ll achieve even more improvement throughout the lash’s twelve week growth cycle. I can’t wait to see what happens to my lashes as I continue to use Wink.
In the before and after photos, it is hard to see that there is an increase in lash length, but you can definitely see that my lashes are fuller. The inner eye area has really filled in – and you can see that trend continue all around the lid. So impressed! Wink is available on the Amalie Beauty website for $40/tube.
